By changing where you repeat the color you can get shaped designs like this row of hearts on a place mat.
This simple repeat: White stripes alternating with Red squares and Yellow rectangles again looks more complicated than it is. If you break down the design you will see that each color section is worked with only one color change throughout, but by adding then together and varying their positions you can get a more designed look.
Next we will look at the more complicated task of using several colors, dropping and picking up, at the same time.
